Proceedings of the BauNOW Final Event in Rome – Investing in a Green and Just Transition
From 20 to 22 May 2026, the final event of the BauNOW – New Business as Usual project, entitled “Investing in a Green and Just Transition”, took place in Rome. The initiative brought together project partners, institutions and key stakeholders to present the project’s achievements and discuss future opportunities to support the Green and Just Transition across the Mediterranean region.

The BauNOW project promotes cooperation among local and regional authorities, financial institutions, the private sector and experts, with the aim of strengthening the integration of the Green and Just Transition into development policies, territorial planning and investment practices, while supporting climate resilience and fostering more inclusive and sustainable development.
During the event, the project’s main achievements were presented alongside contributions from partners from participating countries. Discussions also focused on recommendations to encourage public and private investment in the Green and Just Transition. On 21 May, participants visited the Borgo Laudato Si’ and the Higher Educational Center in Castel Gandolfo, exploring topics related to sustainable development, renewable energy and social responsibility.
The final event on 22 May took place at the Europa Experience Centre in Rome and focused on the priorities of local and regional authorities, the banking sector and private stakeholders in steering investments towards a greener, more resilient and more just future across the Mediterranean region.
This publication brings together the conference proceedings, contributions from project partners and a summary of the main themes and outcomes that emerged during the three-day event.
