The European Commission has released new guidance to help EU Member States implement the Social Climate Fund, launching in 2026 with over €86 billion to support vulnerable households and small businesses in the green transition.
The guidelines aim to ensure funds are used effectively and fairly, with performance-based payments and a focus on social inclusion. From 31 July 2026, countries will be able to request their first disbursements once plans are approved and targets met.
Running until 2032, the fund will back projects on energy efficiency, building renovation, renewables and clean mobility.
