The European Environment Agency’s Europe’s Environment 2025 report warns that, despite major progress in cutting emissions and pollution, Europe’s environment remains in poor condition. Nature continues to degrade and biodiversity loss persists, worsened by accelerating climate change. These challenges threaten Europe’s prosperity, security, and quality of life. While the EU leads globally on climate action, stronger and faster implementation of Green Deal measures is needed to protect natural resources, boost resilience, and ensure a sustainable future.
