Climate, Copernicus: “April 2020 as 2016 the hottest months ever”
According to the observatory COpernicus, in April 2020 the temperatures recorded in 2016 were reached.
Globally, April 2020 was on par with the hottest previous April ever, April 2016. Copernicus C3S, the climate monitoring service offered by Copernicus, the European observation network on land and sea, reports.
In Europe, temperatures are well above average in many western countries, but below average in the northeast. Both the Arctic and Antarctica saw less than average sea ice coverage compared to the 1981-2010 average. According to Copernicus findings, 2019 was the hottest year in Europe, 11 out of 12 records since 2000.
