New efficiency record for photovoltaic cells

Thanks to heterojunction, using amorphous and monocristalline silicon together, a team of researchers from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne Institute of Microengineering achieved an astounding 22.4 percent efficiency.
