Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine has sent inflation spiralling. Energy, food and supply chain security have shot to the top of the political agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though some governments have used the crisis to step up the pace of efforts to decarbonise and improve energy efficiency, some have focused on finding new fossil fuel sources to increase energy security in the short term. Others, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangenews.com\/2022\/02\/10\/misleading-polish-billboards-blame-eu-climate-policy-electricity-costs\/\">Poland<\/a> and some politicians in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/232d2cc2-a489-4a8c-ace9-1edb86ba9de0\">UK<\/a>, are wrongly blaming soaring energy costs on measures to tackle climate change.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the two country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/chinadialogue.net\/en\/digest\/china-and-the-us-give-surprise-declaration-on-climate-cooperation\/\">declaration of cooperation at COP26<\/a> in Glasgow, the China\u2013US Climate Working Group has been <a href=\"https:\/\/chinadialogue.net\/en\/climate\/roundtable-the-implications-of-the-us-and-china-suspending-climate-cooperation\/\">suspended<\/a>, and bilateral meetings on several issues have been cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chinadialogue.net\/en\/climate\/what-is-cop27-this-years-crucial-climate-talks-explained\/\">More&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The next round of UN climate change negotiations is fast approaching, this time hosted by Egypt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"kc_post_selected_socio_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[26],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-43138","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news-from-the-world"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
