{"id":42817,"date":"2022-08-25T23:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T21:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kyotoclub.org\/?p=42817"},"modified":"2022-08-28T23:32:29","modified_gmt":"2022-08-28T21:32:29","slug":"california-set-to-ban-fossil-fuel-cars-by-2035","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kyotoclub.org\/en\/news-en\/news-from-the-world\/2022\/08\/25\/california-set-to-ban-fossil-fuel-cars-by-2035\/","title":{"rendered":"California set to ban fossil fuel cars by 2035"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proposals to be debated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) this week will formalise targets set by Governor Gavin Newsom \u2013 and will likely prod other US states in the same direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plans, which board member Daniel Sperling recently told CNN he was \u201c99.9 percent\u201d confident would be adopted, also include incremental steps mandating more than a third of 2026 car sales in the state be zero emission, and over two-thirds by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is monumental,\u201d Sperling told CNN. \u201cThis is the most important thing that CARB has done in the last 30 years.
